Logan, Utah -- May 6, 2002. Iodynamics announced today that the company has expanded its staff, adding key personnel to broaden the company's skillset and serve its clients better.
Earlier this year, Iodynamics' current partners, Doran Barton and Chadd VanZanten, began looking for ways to provide additional services and enrich the company's growing client base. As a result, Barton and VanZanten invited two new partners, Michael Morgan and David Baker, to use their complementary expertise to enhance the goals of Iodynamics and its clients.
VanZanten, Iodynamics' director of business development, noted that Iodynamics had built a reputation for solid programming and cost-effective Internet business solutions. "We recognized, though, that our clients need more than just good Internet applications -- they also need to understand how to put those applications to work for them." The products -- and the company itself -- needed a face lift.
"As technical people," added Barton, Iodynamics' president and chief super-hero, "we tend to be a little rough around the edges." He and VanZanten saw the need for an improved focus on presentation, increasing visual appeal and customer experience. Since both Morgan and Baker come from a background of marketing and rich media, they seemed up to the task of helping to polish Iodynamics' products.
The reformulated Iodynamics staff includes four people with diverse backgrounds and talents:
Doran Barton, president and chief super-hero:
Has 12 years using, developing, and administering Internet applications and
systems. For 8 of those years, Barton has engineered dynamic website
applications for corporate and academic clients. He also has 11 years'
experience teaching computer programming and computer system administration
and doing technical writing for computing. He is an avid proponent of
open-source software, supporting the role of "free software" in
mission-critical business applications. Barton holds a B.S. in computer
science from Utah State University. He is Iodynamics' president and chief
software architect.
Chadd VanZanten, director of business development:
Has spent 10 years working in the fields of marketing, product development,
customer relations, technical writing, and journalistic writing. Like
Barton, VanZanten is an active open-source advocate. VanZanten earned a B.A.
in journalism from Utah State University. His responsibilities at Iodynamics
center on client relations, product development, and project management.
Michael Morgan, director of operations: Has more than 15 years' experience in the fields of corporate communications, marketing, and small business management. His business experience includes leading and participating in technology-based businesses, product teams, and marketing communications departments for several Utah companies. Morgan is a firm believer in using technology to bridge the communication gap between business clients. He has a B.A. in economics from Utah State University. At Iodynamics, Morgan will focus on marketing, branding, public relations, and business management.
David Baker, director of communications:
Has spent the past 7 years working in a variety of technology-related
fields, including graphic design, multimedia development, project
management, and marketing communications. As a published author,
prizewinning playwright, and experienced videographer, Baker adds an
assortment of creative talents to Iodynamics' client offerings. Baker holds
a B.A. in English from BYU-Hawaii, and an M.A. in linguistics from BYU
Provo. His responsibilities at Iodynamics will involve graphic design,
multimedia work, and marketing communications.
According to Morgan, "We feel that this new, improved team has a lot to offer, with a very deep technical and creative toolbox." The reformulated Iodynamics group is currently working together to serve the company's clients.
Since its establishment in 1998, Iodynamics has provided network and programming consulting to clients throughout northern Utah. Iodynamics specializes in using free software and open-source software to create stable, innovative, and inexpensive solutions for small to intermediate-sized businesses. At the same time, Iodynamics uses widely accepted and commonly used programming and network conventions to build systems that are easy to use and maintain.
